JOOLA Power FX: The Brand's First Full-Foam Paddle Is Here

JOOLA has been one of the biggest names in pickleball equipment for years. Their Ben Johns signature paddle, the Hyperion range, and this year's Pro V series have all attracted serious attention. But one question has followed the brand throughout the foam era: why no foam?

Today, 30th September 2026, that question gets its answer. The JOOLA Power FX is live.

What Is the Power FX?

The Power FX is JOOLA's first full-foam paddle — built on EPP foam combined with JOOLA's patented Propulsion Core construction. It is 16mm thick and uses a 5th generation carbon fibre surface engineered for spin and control without relying on artificial grit coatings.

JOOLA were deliberate about taking their time. Austin Kim, Director of Product at JOOLA, explained the delay plainly: "We've been building with foam for years, through multiple generations of paddle construction, so this wasn't us trying something new. Each iteration taught us something about the positive performance characteristics and potential drawbacks of foam. POWER FX is the first one where both power and the feel showed up in the same paddle."

That is a significant statement. Many foam paddles on the market excel at power but sacrifice feel — particularly on softer shots at the kitchen line. JOOLA are claiming the Power FX does both.

The Specs

  • Core: EPP foam with Propulsion Core construction
  • Core thickness: 16mm
  • Surface: 5th generation carbon fibre
  • Weight: 7.9–8.1 oz
  • Features: Integrated vibration damping system
  • Colour: Daydream (green/teal)
  • Price: $179.95 USD

The vibration damping is worth noting for players who have experienced arm or elbow discomfort with other paddles — it is designed to absorb impact forces across longer sessions, not just the first few points.

Who Is It For?

JOOLA have positioned the Power FX explicitly for players of every level — not just the pro end of the market. Gordon Kaye, Chief Experience Officer at JOOLA, put it directly: "We believe everyone deserves power."

That is a different angle to how brands like Six Zero and Selkirk have launched foam paddles — which have largely targeted competitive and advanced players. The Power FX is designed to give a recreational or improving player genuine pop without needing to generate it all themselves.

In practice, a 16mm foam paddle with carbon fibre surface at 8oz sits squarely in the all-round bracket. It is not the thinnest or the heaviest — it is designed to cover as much of the court as possible for as many players as possible.

The Foam Question

Foam paddles have dominated the paddle market since mid-2025. RPM, Six Zero, Holbrook and others have built significant followings around foam construction. JOOLA's absence from that market has been conspicuous — particularly when reviewers tested the Pro V earlier this year and immediately asked why it did not use foam.

JOOLA's answer has always been that they would do it when they had it right. Whether the Power FX lives up to that standard remains to be seen — no independent reviews are out yet on launch day.
