Padel House Nottingham: New 56,000 sq ft Venue to Feature Dedicated Pickleball Court

Nottingham is getting one of the UK's most ambitious racquet sports venues — and it comes with a dedicated pickleball court.

Planning permission was granted on 22 July 2026 for Padel House, a 56,000 sq ft sports and social destination being developed by Carlton-based ALB Group on Electric Avenue, Nottingham. To put that in perspective, a standard sports hall is typically around 3,000–4,000 sq ft — this venue is more than ten times that size. This is not a community leisure centre with a spare court. The venue will include five indoor padel courts, an indoor show court, four covered outdoor courts, and a dedicated pickleball court — alongside a café and bar, Pilates studio, physiotherapy facilities, coworking space, roof terrace, and food outlets.

What Is Padel House?

Padel House is a purpose-built racquet sports venue designed to host national and international tournaments. It's being developed by ALB Group, a Carlton-based property firm, on the former Experian site — an area already undergoing significant redevelopment.

The venue has been positioned as more than just a sports facility. Alongside the courts, it will offer coworking space, a rooftop terrace, PT studios, events space, and food and drink. The hospitality side is being led by the team behind Public and Arran's Bagel — two well-known Nottingham names.

Arran Bailey, managing director of ALB Group, described it as a venue to sit alongside the City Ground, Trent Bridge, and Holme Pierrepont as a landmark sporting destination in the city.

What Does This Mean for Pickleball Players?

Right now, pickleball in Nottinghamshire is played through clubs — Magdala, Let's Dink, Newark, The Pickleball Collective — using hired courts at tennis clubs and leisure centres. There are no purpose-built pickleball courts in the county.

Padel House changes that. A dedicated pickleball court at a venue built to international tournament standard is a significant step forward for the sport locally. It also signals that developers are taking pickleball seriously as a commercial proposition — not just an afterthought.

When Will It Open?

No opening date has been confirmed yet. Construction is expected to begin following the completion of pre-development works. Given the scale of the project, a 2027 or 2028 opening seems realistic — but watch this space.

Where Is It?

Padel House will be located on Electric Avenue, Nottingham — on the former Experian site, close to established hotels and transport links. The Carlton-based developer means this is very much a local project, not an out-of-town chain.

Why This Matters for Nottingham Pickleball

The sport has grown quickly in Nottinghamshire over the past two years. There are now over 640 rated players within 20 miles of Nottingham on DUPR, and clubs are running sessions across the county most days of the week.

A dedicated court at a venue of this scale — with the hospitality and social infrastructure around it — could accelerate that growth considerably. It lowers the barrier to entry for curious beginners, provides a permanent home for casual play, and gives competitive players a tournament-ready facility.

Pickleball is also set to debut at the Invictus Games 2027 in Birmingham — just down the road — further raising the sport's profile in the Midlands at exactly the right time.
