2026 English Pickleball Nationals: Dates, Brackets, Prices and How to Enter

Registration for the 2026 English Pickleball Nationals is now open — but act fast. When registration first opened it was overwhelmed within hours, causing duplicate payments and errors that forced a temporary pause. Pickleball England completed the full reconciliation and reopened registration on the evening of 16th September — but many events are already full or very close to capacity.

Here is everything you need to know before it sells out. Taking place at Bolton Arena from 29th October to 1st November 2026, this is the national championship of English pickleball — and the closest major tournament to Nottinghamshire on the calendar.

Dates and Venue

29th October — 1st November 2026 Bolton Arena, Arena Approach, Horwich, Bolton BL6 6LB

All days run from 8am to 6pm. Players will receive their personal schedule in advance and are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before their first match. There are food and drink options at the venue, including a café and the Red Lion — which will also be showing a livestream of the event.

The venue does not have changing rooms with showers, so factor in hotel accommodation nearby.

Age Groups and Skill Brackets

The Nationals use both age group and skill level to structure competition — the same system as the English Open.

Age groups: 15+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 70+, 75+

Note: age is calculated as your age on 31st December 2026. So if you turn 35, 60 or 65 before the end of the year, you can enter the corresponding age bracket even if you have not reached that age by tournament day.

Skill brackets: 3.0 and below, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, Open

A DUPR account is required to register. Pickleball England will review entries to ensure players are not entering a bracket below their current DUPR rating.

If any single age and skill category receives fewer than 5 entries, categories may be combined at the Tournament Director's discretion.

Entry Fees

Registration fee: £40 — charged once per player, regardless of how many events you enter

Per event fees:

Standard events: £30 per event
Senior Open events: £55 (prize money eligible)
Open events: £65 (prize money eligible)
Wheelchair events: Free
Junior events: Free

So if you enter two standard events, you are looking at £40 registration + £60 in event fees = £100 total. Many players enter both doubles and mixed doubles across the weekend.

Prize Money

The 2026 prize pot is £7,950 — up from £6,500 in 2025. Prize money is split between the Open and Senior Open events only.

How to Register

Registration is now open through Pickleball England's PickleBook system at picklebook.org.

Important: many events are already full or very close to capacity — register now if you want a place. As of 17th September, even 3.0 brackets are already on standby only, with just 2 spots remaining in Men's Doubles 3.0 15+. If you are waiting, do not delay.

If you remain on standby from the initial registration, your position was allocated by original timestamp. You will only move in if a place becomes available through a withdrawal.

No Partner? You Can Still Enter

One option that many players do not know about — you do not need a partner to enter a doubles event.

When registering for any doubles bracket, PickleBook gives you two options:

Single Player — enter on your own and you will be paired with another solo entrant either by the tournament organiser or through the partnering service
With a Partner — reserve your partner's place at the same time by providing their email address

This is a significant option for solo players in Nottinghamshire who want to compete but do not have a regular doubles partner. You register, secure your place, and Pickleball England handles the pairing. You will not be left without a partner on the day.

If you have been putting off entering tournaments because you do not have someone to play with — this removes that barrier entirely.

Is This Worth Entering for Nottinghamshire Players?

Bolton Arena is roughly two hours from Nottingham by car — about 90 miles — and close enough to make a weekend trip of it.

The Nationals attract players from across England, so competition is stronger than at regional events. If you have been playing consistently and have a DUPR rating, this is the right step up from club play.
