Tuesday Night Pickleball at Chilwell Olympia — What to Expect

21 May 2026Beeston, Nottinghamshire

If you're looking for a friendly, welcoming place to try pickleball in the Beeston area, Chilwell Olympia's Tuesday evening sessions are worth knowing about.

Chilwell Olympia is one of the few leisure centres in Nottinghamshire to run dedicated weekly pickleball sessions as part of their standard programme — making it an easy entry point for anyone who wants to just turn up and play without joining a club.

The Details

  • When: Every Tuesday evening
  • On-court play: 5:00–6:30pm
  • Social tea & coffee: 6:30–7:00pm
  • Where: Chilwell Olympia Leisure Centre, Beeston
  • Cost: £6.90 with a leisure card / £8.00 as a guest
  • Age: 16+ welcome
  • Booking: Recommended in advance via lleisure.co.uk or the L Leisure App

What Happens on the Night

Sessions are hosted by volunteer Pickleball coaches Tamba and John, both certified Pickleball Leaders who provide tips and guidance throughout the evening.

Whether you've never picked up a paddle before or you're a regular player looking for a social game, Tamba and John keep things moving and make sure everyone gets plenty of court time.

The format is relaxed and social — expect friendly rallies, rotating partners and a welcoming atmosphere. Nobody is keeping serious score.

From 3rd June 2026, sessions follow a new format — 90 minutes of on-court play followed by a dedicated 30-minute social tea and coffee catch-up in the leisure centre. It's become a favourite part of the evening and a big part of what makes Tuesday nights at Chilwell feel like a proper community rather than just a workout.

What to Bring

You don't need to bring anything special:

  • Water bottle recommended
  • Your fee — check whether they accept card or cash before you go
  • Paddles and balls are provided — just turn up in comfortable clothes and trainers

Who Goes?

The Tuesday sessions attract a genuine mix of people — complete beginners trying pickleball for the first time, regulars who've been coming for months, and everyone in between. Anyone aged 16 or over is welcome, making it one of the more accessible sessions in the area.

Because sessions are popular, booking in advance is strongly recommended rather than just turning up on the night.

Getting There

Chilwell Olympia is located in Beeston, approximately 4 miles southwest of Nottingham city centre — around 15 minutes by car or accessible by bus from the city.

The leisure centre has parking on site.
